sketches ofmy besties OCS
I have a discord for art lovers and we have a section of where we draw each other's
OC. each sketch is from a different person character.
As an artist, there's truly nothing quite like diving into the world of OCs, especially when they belong to your best friends! It's a fantastic way to stretch your creative muscles, explore new art styles, and connect with other art lovers. I've been experimenting a lot with digital art lately, and drawing OCs has become one of my favorite practices. One thing I've found incredibly helpful is focusing on OC poses. It's easy to fall into the same few poses, but observing how my friends describe their characters, like one with a party hat in a relaxed vibe or another hanging upside down from a hoop, really pushes me to think outside the box. I always try to capture that unique personality – whether it's a character with voluminous brown curly hair playfully kicking their leg up, or a blonde character looking a bit tired, engrossed in a blue book. Thinking about how the character would naturally move or express themselves makes the sketch come alive. Sometimes I'll even use a simple prop like a teddy bear or a perfume bottle to inspire a more engaging pose. When it comes to digital art and drawing techniques, I'm constantly learning. For these OC sketches, I really enjoy playing with different line weights and shading to give each character depth. I've found that experimenting with various brushes can dramatically change the feel of a sketch – from a clean, crisp line art to a softer, more painterly look. It’s all about finding what works best for that particular character's vibe. For instance, creating the ethereal effect for a character riding a ghost requires a different approach than detailing a spiderweb-patterned top. Speaking of vibes, developing a cool art style is a journey for every artist. While I admire specific styles like 'Galactibun art style' for their distinct charm, my goal isn't to copy, but to learn and incorporate elements that resonate with me into my own unique flair. I often look at how different artists render features like curly hair or how they use color palettes. It's about letting diverse inspirations, from real life to other artists, help shape your personal aesthetic without losing your individuality. Designing diverse OC female characters is also incredibly rewarding. Each of my friends' OCs has such unique traits – from different hair colors like blonde, orange, or various shades of brown, to distinct accessories and expressions. It's not just about drawing a pretty face; it's about giving them personality, a backstory reflected in their eyes, or even how they hold a specific item like that intriguing blue book. These details, gleaned from my friends' descriptions and my own interpretations, are what make each OC truly special and fun to sketch. It’s like recreating a picture from their imagination onto my digital canvas, which is an amazing challenge every time.

ooh? is the discord a public one? I've been looking for an art discord but been struggling 😭
