It is an annual festival of Chichibu Shrine held on December 2 and 3 every year in Chichibu City, Saitama Prefecture, and is counted as one of the three major Hikiyama festivals in Japan along with the Gion Festival in Kyoto and the Takayama Festival in Hida, and is also registered as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage.
On the day of the festival, two gorgeous kasaboko and four yatai are towed. The climax is the night of the 3rd, and the appearance that the kasaboko and yatai with a maximum of 20 tons are pulled up a steep slope called Dangozaka is very impressive.
