Sharing my April reading journey has been a refreshing experience as I explored a diverse range of genres and authors. Among the 21 books I tackled, I noticed a mix of hits and misses, which is pretty common in any reading month, but each offered something unique. For instance, I dipped into some dark romance titles, which can be polarizing depending on your taste and tolerance for trigger warnings. If you’re open to emotionally intense stories, these can be quite immersive, but I realized they’re not for everyone. One standout for me was the duology by Rebecca Ross, featuring lush magical elements and lyrical writing that truly transported me to another world. Books like these remind me why I love YA fantasy genres—they blend coming-of-age stories with captivating world-building. I also enjoyed listening to thrillers on audio, specifically works by Holly Jackson and others, which kept me on edge with their clever plots and emotionally charged suspense. Audiobooks really bring these narratives to life, especially if you enjoy multitasking during your day. A few books didn’t quite meet my expectations and felt slow or uneventful, but I found that even these prompted reflection on what makes a story engaging for me personally. Playing with family or taking breaks between readings helped keep my experience fresh. Overall, April was a solid month of reading, balancing fan favorites and new discoveries.
