How to grab audiobooks without going broke!
As an avid reader and listener, I totally get the struggle of wanting to dive into tons of audiobooks without seeing your bank account dwindle. It’s Audiobook Appreciation Month, and what better time to share my absolute best tips for how you can listen to audiobooks for free or at heavily discounted prices! From free digital audiobooks to snagging incredible deals, I've tried it all, and I'm excited to share my secrets. My absolute number one recommendation, which I can't stress enough, are Library Book Apps like Libby and Hoopla. Seriously, if you have a library card, you have access to a treasure trove of free audio ebooks. I find it so convenient to browse the digital shelves right from my phone. While popular audiobooks might have a waitlist, don't let that deter you! I often have up to 10 books on hold at a time. This strategy helps me always have something new lined up. Plus, it’s a fantastic way to discover new authors and genres while patiently waiting for that bestseller to become available. You can literally listen to as many audiobooks in a year as you want for free – it's incredible! Next up, for those times when you want to own a book but still want a great deal, non-subscription audiobook apps are your best friend. I'm talking about apps like Chirp. These don't cost any money to be a member of, and they constantly have heavily discounted books. I've found some amazing deals, especially when buying them in bulk, like an entire series. It’s perfect for grabbing those titles you know you’ll want to revisit. Another option is Libro, which is a monthly subscription but has a fantastic mission: it donates a portion of your purchase to a local library of your choice. They have great selections, and it feels good to support two things I love: reading and libraries! And here’s a tip you might not have thought of: Music streaming apps! If you use Spotify Premium, like I do (I have playlists for everything!), you might be surprised to find you can get an audiobook for free. They offer a selection of audiobooks that you can listen to, often up to 15 hours per month. It's not a huge library, but it's a fantastic bonus for something you're already paying for. I've definitely made use of this when I'm looking for a quicker listen or just want to try something new. Finally, let's talk about Audible Premium. While it's a subscription, I do like owning my books, and Audible often has a selection of books for free that you can listen to as a member. Plus, if you have a Kindle, you can often find titles that offer listen and read options, where you get the audiobook for free when you purchase the Kindle ebook. Keep an eye out for their sales throughout the year too; I always find some gems there. There are so many ways to enjoy your audiobooks without breaking the bank. How are you getting your audiobooks? I'd love to hear your tips too!
