I thought my GitHub days were behind me but here we are #founder

2/23 Edited to

... Read moreStarting a software development project from scratch can truly feel like renovating a kitchen—there are so many layers and components to consider. I’ve found that while the visual, user-facing parts of software are important, such as the marketing site and interface (akin to countertops, cabinets, paint, and backsplash in a kitchen), the real challenge lies behind the scenes. The backend systems—login creation, account management, subscription integration, and billing—are like the plumbing and wiring that make everything function but are hardly glamorous. Working on this project, I quickly realized the sheer complexity involved in backend development. For example, setting up a login system isn't just about a simple user authentication; it requires connecting accounts to subscription plans that limit usage and handle upgrades seamlessly. Adding billing functionalities means integrating with different payment gateways, ensuring secure transactions, and managing recurring payments, all while maintaining smooth user experience. I’ve spent long hours debugging code, managing deployments via Git, and making sure that everything runs reliably. Watching a hockey game during breaks provided some motivation, but mostly, I was glued to the screen, caught up in creating something uniquely useful—not just for others, but for myself as a practicing professional. Another insight I gained is the stamina and resilience required as an entrepreneur, especially when working solo. Unlike a traditional job where there’s structure and immediate compensation, entrepreneurship demands long days, weekends, and relentless focus fueled by passion and personal commitment. The excitement of building a tool that streamlines psychologists' reporting processes made all the late nights worthwhile. This software aims to simplify and enhance the workflow of psychologists and neuropsychologists by providing tailored documentation tools. Having experienced firsthand how crucial this kind of solution is, I know it will add significant value to many in the field. Even though software development was new territory for me, the learning curve has been steep but rewarding. In conclusion, if you’re considering transforming an idea into a software product, especially in a niche field, prepare for a journey full of technical challenges and personal growth. Every stage, from the user interface down to the backend plumbing, requires detailed attention. But with perseverance, the result is not just a functional product but a reflection of your dedication and vision.
