I’m getting my degree for what?

Hiii! I graduate on Sunday so be on the lookout for graduation photos! I’ve only been done with school officially for 6 days, but I’ve started building my summer to do list.

Here’s some of the things I’ll be doing once I get my Bachelors in CS this weekend:

- Solo trip to Puerto Rico in June to see San Juan and Bad Bunny 🏝️🇵🇷

- Get some tech degrees! I’m still deciding if I want to go the data science or cybersecurity route.

- I want to build a cool website to showcase my portfolio. I’m renovating my GitHub first.

- Big move to another state on the East Coast in August! More details to come later on!

... Read moreGraduating from college is a significant milestone that opens up various opportunities. After receiving a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, you may feel excited yet uncertain about your next steps. Here are some popular options for new graduates: 1. **Explore Career Paths in Tech**: Consider where your passions lie. With a CS degree, you can enter fields such as software development, data science, or cybersecurity. Each path has its own set of skills and tools, so think about pursuing certifications that can help you excel in your chosen area. 2. **Get Certified**: Certifications can strengthen your resume. As mentioned, you may be contemplating certifications related to data science or cybersecurity. Programs such as CompTIA Security+ or data analytics certifications provide practical skills and can improve your job prospects. 3. **Portfolio Development**: Building a solid online portfolio is crucial for showcasing your skills to potential employers. Whether it's a dedicated website or a GitHub profile, ensure it highlights your best projects and demonstrates your coding proficiency. 4. **Travel and Experience Life**: Traveling after college can be rejuvenating. Consider solo trips like your planned visit to Puerto Rico. These experiences not only refresh your mind but also provide unique stories to share in interviews. 5. **Networking and Job Hunting**: Begin to network with professionals in your desired field. Attend tech meetups, webinars, and social events to build connections. Many job openings are filled through referrals, so don’t underestimate the power of networking. In summary, after graduation, take the time to explore various opportunities—internships, travel, or further education—that align with your career aspirations.
