This has become one of my favorite summer hobbies, and I am getting better every time. 💐
One of the techniques I use when I’m creating a vase or a bouquet is that I go with a theme in mind…so as soon as I saw the babies breath flowers, the rainbow color scheme came to me. I knew I needed those big fluffy pink Peonies to bring out the vision. I think I’m always gonna go for a touch of green whether that’s with leaves or the flowers centered here, but this just gives me a garden vibe. #trader joes flowers#traderjoesflorals#peoniesbouquet#summer flowers

... Read moreSince sharing my latest Trader Joe's floral creation, I've had so many questions about how I keep my bouquets looking fresh and what other styles you can create! It's truly become one of my favorite ways to bring beauty into my home without breaking the bank. So, I wanted to share some extra tips and tricks I've picked up along the way to help you get even more enjoyment out of your Trader Joe's finds.
First things first: that little packet of flower food! It’s a game-changer for extending the life of your gorgeous blooms. I always follow the instructions carefully: one packet per quart (about a liter) of fresh water. Make sure to dissolve it completely in your glass vase. When I first get my flowers home, I give all the stems a fresh cut at an angle – this helps them drink up water more effectively. I also remove any leaves that would fall below the waterline in the vase, as these can contaminate the water. I change the water every two days, or whenever it starts looking cloudy, always adding a fresh flower food solution. This simple routine has made a huge difference, especially for delicate blooms like pink peonies and colorful baby's breath.
Beyond my signature garden vibe arrangements, I love exploring the variety Trader Joe’s offers. If you're craving something exotic, definitely keep an eye out for their tropical bouquets. I've found beautiful Birds of Paradise, ginger flowers, and vibrant anthuriums. To create a tropical arrangement, I usually choose a tall, slender vase and focus on contrasting textures and bold colors, letting individual stems stand out for natural drama.
And let's talk greenery! It's not just an afterthought; it's the backbone of a great bouquet. While I always incorporate a touch of green, like the leaves on the chrysanthemums (which, by the way, are fantastic for adding volume and longevity!), Trader Joe’s often has dedicated bundles of eucalyptus, ruscus, or leather leaf. These add incredible texture, depth, and structure. Eucalyptus, with its silvery-green hue and lovely scent, is one of my go-to choices for a sophisticated look. I’ll layer different types of greenery, using the more structural pieces first to build my base.
Speaking of specific flowers, I often spot chrysanthemums at Trader Joe's, and they are incredibly versatile for arrangements. They come in so many colors and sizes. I love using the spray varieties as a filler around my focal flowers, like pink peonies, or even letting a cluster of them be the star. They're super hardy and last a long time, making them a great value. They also pair wonderfully with baby's breath for that soft, airy feel, while still providing sturdy structure.
Finally, for those who love seasonal arrangements, Trader Joe’s is a treasure trove. For a spring bouquet, I'm always on the lookout for tulips, daffodils, and hyacinths in March and April. They bring such a fresh, bright energy. Each season brings new possibilities, so don't be afraid to mix and match. Happy arranging, everyone!
