Sunny but cold

I don’t know if it’s cause I’ve lived I’m Florida for 3 years and have gotten used to the hot weather but ..

It’s 60 degrees and I’m cold!!

I grew up in Massachusetts, which is cold 9 months out of the year … and I can’t handle a little 60 degree weather! 😂😂😂

Anyone else understand me? Anyone else feel this way?

... Read moreIt's funny how a simple picture or a short post can spark so much curiosity, isn't it? Sometimes we look at someone and try to 'guess their ages' or guess their story from just a glance. But truthfully, our experiences and environments shape us far more than a number ever could. Take my own journey, for instance – moving from the brisk winters of Massachusetts to the warm embrace of Florida completely recalibrated my internal thermostat! I used to scoff at people who complained about 60-degree weather. Back in New England, that was practically beach weather in spring! But now, after soaking up the Florida sun for a few years, anything below 70°F has me reaching for a jacket. It's truly a wild phenomenon how quickly your body adapts to a new climate. One minute you’re building snowmen, the next you’re shivering when the temperature dips below average for your new home. This isn't just me; it's a real thing called 'thermal acclimatization.' Your body gets used to a certain temperature range, and when it deviates, even slightly, it feels extreme! So, what do you do when you're feeling chilly on a seemingly 'sunny but cold' Florida day? It's a unique kind of cold, where the sun is still blazing down, making you squint your eyes in the bright sunlight, but a cool breeze cuts right through you. I often find myself in a black and grey jacket over a white tank top, just like that guy captured on the outdoor stairs – trying to enjoy the warmth of the sun while still needing that extra layer against the chill. It's all about strategic layering! Even if the sun is out, bringing a light sweater or a thin jacket is a must. A warm drink, like coffee or tea, can also make a huge difference. And it’s not just about physical comfort; it's about embracing this new normal. You learn to appreciate those 'cold' days for what they are – a little break from the intense heat, a chance to wear some of those forgotten fall clothes. It's a shared experience among many who've made a similar move. You might find yourself smiling broadly with closed eyes, soaking in every ray of sun, only to realize you still have goosebumps! The shadows might be long, and the air crisp, but there's a certain charm to these 'Florida winter' days. It’s about adapting, finding humor in your new temperature sensitivities, and realizing that home isn't just where you live, but where your body decides its comfortable temperature is. So, if you've ever felt like your weather tolerance completely changed after a big move, you're definitely not alone. Share your stories! How has your body adapted to a new climate? What's your 'cold' temperature now?
