Asking someone directly about their pronouns or identity is better done in a private, safe space. If you're unsure, you can wait until the person offers that information voluntarily rather than forcing the topic. Additionally, using inclusive language shows awareness. Instead of assuming someone's identity based on appearance, using neutral terms like "they" until you know helps avoid misgendering. If you accidentally use the wrong pronouns, a simple apology and correction is appreciated. During Pride Month, many find it easier to share their identities openly. Engaging with queer communities, attending events, or participating in discussions can also provide insight into respectful communication.
