At the beginning of my healing journey, I had so much trauma to work through that I did not FEEL anything at all for a long time. I was totally shut down. The fact that we can FEEL pain is a gift in and of itself. I used 'music therapy' to become familiar with emotions I had never felt before. This is not anything we set out to do. The path is different for all of us. Once we are on the healing path, we are guided as to which direction to proceed.

... Read moreStarting a healing journey can often feel overwhelming, especially when trauma has caused emotional shutdown. In my experience, the initial numbness made it seem like emotions were completely unreachable, but music therapy served as a gentle bridge to reconnect with feelings I had long suppressed. Listening to and engaging with music allowed me to identify subtle emotional shifts and slowly embrace vulnerability without pressure. What’s remarkable is how healing is not a linear or identical process for everyone—each of us is led by our inner intuition toward different methods and milestones. For me, the gift of being able to truly FEEL pain was a turning point. Recognizing pain as a natural human experience rather than something to avoid helped me open up to healing rather than resist it. Practicing mindfulness alongside music therapy enriched this process, as it encouraged present-moment awareness and compassion toward myself. Simple daily exercises like journaling my emotional responses to certain songs deepened my understanding of my internal state. For anyone feeling stuck or emotionally numb, I recommend exploring creative therapies such as music, art, or movement to gently reconnect with your emotions. Trust your unique path, and remember that healing is a personal journey—sometimes subtle, sometimes profound—but always worthwhile. Love and patience for yourself can truly conquer the challenges along the way.
