HAIR HEALTH 101: Lesson One- basic care.

Many kids don’t learn how to properly care for their hair, even adults sometimes don’t know.

Let me change that.

•Shampoo twice.

- one to clean the scalp.

- one to clean the hair on the scalp.

•Only condition the ends.

- make sure the conditioner gets as soapy as the shampoo.

- leave it in for a minute.

- RINSE OUT IN COLD WATER. (Hot water strips the layers and makes it easier for ends to split.

- rinse out thoroughly until hair isn’t slick.

•Invest in oils and hair masks.

-Hair masks are also vital to hair care, there are multiple ones for multiple functions.

-Oils are great for both scalp and hair needs. There are many oils you can use for your hair. (This will be made into another post.)

•NO HEAT. NO NO HEAT.

-This is perhaps the most important point of this post. Do not use heat on your hair religiously. A couple times for special occasions is okay, but everyday use of heat will kill your hair.

-Do your best to air dry your hair. (Air drying leading to oily hair quicker is a myth!)

-Of course you may use heat, but do not rely on it for every day use. In fact the curls in this very post are heatless. (I’ll make a tutorial post later.)

*Remember all hair types are different. Every head has different hair. Be patient while finding your routine.*

... Read moreHealthy hair is essential for both aesthetic and self-esteem. In today's fast-paced world, many overlook basic hair care essentials. One key takeaway is the importance of choosing the right shampoo. Look for sulfate-free options as they are gentler on the scalp and hair. When conditioning, focus on the ends to avoid weighing down the roots. The frequent use of oils can enhance moisture, while regular deep conditioning treatments can revitalize dry hair. Avoiding heat styling is crucial; consider alternatives like braiding damp hair for waves. Remember, consistency is key when establishing a hair care routine. Everyone's hair is unique, and it may take time to find the perfect regimen that works for you! Regular trims also help keep hair healthy and prevent split ends. Keep experimenting until you discover what your hair loves!
