the CAUSE of my acne 🤧

Finding the cause of my acne is the hardest part of my acne journey! Skincare products can do so much, but without eliminating the cause, acne can never go away. It took me 2 years to actually find out the WHY!

It was my BIRTH CONTROL PILLS! I had lived my whole entire teenage life without a single pimple, yes you heard it right! My teenage life was gooood!!! Then out of no where, I suddenly started to get all these breakouts EVERY SINGLE WEEK in my mid 20s!

I thought it was because of the products so I cut everything out and just used the basic, that didn’t help 😔 I started to eat better, that didn’t help either! One time I forgot to get my refills so I had to skip the entire month of birth control, and OOMMGGGG I started seeing my skin getting better and less breakout just within a month! AND FINALLY IT STARTED TO CLICK! Everything started when I had started on my pills!

Fast forward now, I am completely off of it! My doctor was no help in finding me a better birth control so I’ve decided to stop. My skin is way better now! My skin doesn’t have those cystic pimples/breakout anymore. I am way happier now tbh! Don’t get me started on other side effects of birth control (I’ll make a separate post about it!)

I hope my story helps those who might be on the same boat! When it comes to acne, finding a cause is really important! I hope you figure out one day!

Lmk if you have dealt with this before and I’m not the only one because for years I’ve only heard stories that birth control cures their acne but never the other way around!

If skincare is your thing, let’s be friend! 😊 Happy skincare 🫶🏻

Hormonal fluctuations, common in menstruating individuals, can greatly influence skin condition. Birth control is often prescribed to regulate hormones, but for some, it can trigger breakouts instead. It's important to recognize that every body reacts differently to medications, and what works for one may not work for another. If you're struggling with acne, consult a dermatologist to explore various treatment options, including alternatives to hormonal contraception. Additionally, nutrition plays a role in how our skin reacts. Incorporating a balanced diet rich in vitamins and minerals while staying hydrated can contribute to overall skin health. Many resources and communities, both online and offline, provide support for individuals on their skincare journeys. Sharing experiences can help others who feel alone in their struggles with acne. Remember, clear skin is a journey, and finding the root cause is the first step toward achieving it!

There are different types of pills you need ones with estradiol or if your skim is good without bc pills then just avoid them all and have your bf use condoms save your hormones

This is happening to me right now, but I’m in Texas, so there’s a good chance if I go off it to see if my acne clears up, they won’t put me back on it 😭

Calamine Lotion For Acne
I started using calamine lotion as a mask/spot treatment whenever I get acne breakouts because it seems to help dry out pimples and calm irritation pretty quickly. But now I’m wondering if it’s actually doing anything long term for acne, or if it just gives temporary relief by reducing redness and
