Adulting 101: High School to College!

As a nursing student, I know how hard it is to acclimate to the college environment. Here's my two cents:

- Lower your expectations!!! College can be fun, but it's NOT all about fun. It's MAINLY about learning and getting closer to your goals. You're there to LEARN. So lower your expectations about having the idealistic college experience, and focus your mind on learning.

- Establish good relationships with friends, teachers, etc!! Especially if you go far away for college, it's crucial to build a good support system. Don't brush this tip off by saying "I'm going to grind by myself and it'll be perfect." <-- This mindset can lead to burnout and a support system is ABSOLUTELY CRUCIAL in stressful environments like college :D.

Don't underestimate the importance of self-care and balance, as these are key to a holistic college experience. Remember that you are not alone on this journey; many have navigated this path successfully. Utilize resources like academic workshops, counseling services, and peer mentoring programs offered by your college to support your transition. Embrace the change, stay organized, and remain committed to your educational goals, and you'll find your footing in the college environment.
