i took 24 college credits in 1 semester 🧬🔬

taking 24 college credits in one semester for pre sonography taught me the importance of strict time management and smart study habits.

i balanced anatomy and physiology i and ii, medical terminology, physics, college algebra, spanish, and orientation to college in one summer. 🫀🧬

planning every day by the hour kept me from falling behind, and techniques like cornell notes, active recall, and the feynman method helped me retain information. 📘

giving up my social life was temporary but worth it for my program goals. 😭🥹

resources like a&p made easy and an anatomy coloring book saved me hours compared to traditional textbooks, and prioritizing sleep, good meals, and mental breaks kept me going.🩺

100000/10 would do again!!!

... Read moreOkay, so you've seen how I did it – tackling a whopping 24 college credits in one semester. It sounds intimidating, but I promise it’s achievable with the right approach! Since many of you are probably wondering 'how to get 24 college credits' yourself, I wanted to dive a little deeper into the nuts and bolts of my strategy. First off, let's talk about extreme time management. The original post mentioned 'hourly planning,' and I cannot stress this enough. I didn't just have a weekly planner; I literally mapped out every single hour of my day, from waking up to going to bed. This included class time, study blocks for each subject (like dedicated slots for Anatomy & Physiology, Medical Terminology, and College Algebra), meal breaks, and even short mental breaks. I used a digital calendar for flexibility, but also a physical planner because there’s something about writing things down that makes them stick. This detailed course schedule allowed me to see exactly where my time was going and ensured no subject fell behind. Next, optimizing study techniques was a game-changer, especially for dense subjects. For A&P, where memorization is key, I heavily relied on Active Recall and spaced repetition. Instead of just rereading notes, I'd quiz myself constantly, using flashcards (digital and physical) and explaining concepts aloud. For subjects like physics or college algebra, the Feynman Technique was my best friend – if I couldn’t explain a concept simply enough for a five-year-old, I knew I hadn't truly understood it yet. Cornell notes were fantastic for lectures, allowing me to summarize key points and formulate questions for later review. My walls were literally covered with hand-written study notes and diagrams – a testament to how crucial visual and active learning was for me! Another huge part of making this work was strategic resource utilization. Beyond textbooks, I found immense value in online tutorials, YouTube channels explaining complex topics in A&P or physics, and joining study groups. While I didn't have much of a social life outside of studying, my study group became my mini-community. We'd bounce ideas off each other, explain concepts, and cheer each other on. Don't underestimate the power of collaborative learning, especially when you're under pressure. And finally, self-care isn't optional, it's essential. When you're pushing yourself this hard, burnout is a real threat. Prioritizing adequate sleep wasn't just a suggestion; it was mandatory for my brain to process all that new information. Good, nutritious meals kept my energy levels stable, and those short mental breaks – even just 15 minutes of walking outside or listening to music – were crucial for resetting. I learned to be incredibly kind to myself on days when I felt overwhelmed. Remember, even if you're sacrificing a social life temporarily for your goals, you need to ensure you're not sacrificing your well-being. My experience operating a sonography machine someday motivates me to push through, but I know I need to be healthy to get there. Taking 24 credits was tough, but it taught me invaluable lessons about resilience, discipline, and my own capabilities. If you're considering a similar challenge, remember these principles, and you might just surprise yourself with what you can achieve!
