Making the color Orange Fall Activity

Teaching my toddler that we can make new colors by mixing to primary colors.

2 is such a curios, adventurous, hands on age. They love learning new thing and doing everything by themselves.

My toddler had fun mixing the paint and was amazed that he made a new color. Now it's all he wants to do with paint. 😅 hope you and your little/s enjoy this simple yet fun little activity!

... Read moreEngaging toddlers in hands-on learning activities like mixing primary colors to create new ones not only sparks their creativity but also enhances their cognitive development. At around two years old, children are naturally curious and eager to experiment, making this an ideal age for sensory and educational play. When mixing yellow and red paint, your toddler can see firsthand how the color orange comes to life. This simple discovery can lead to a lot of excitement and repeated attempts, reinforcing fine motor skills and understanding of cause and effect. Parents can enhance this activity by providing paper plates to paint on, turning the experience into a creative art project, such as making paper plate pumpkins for fall decorations. This approach aligns well with Montessori principles, where children learn through exploration and hands-on activities. It’s a fantastic way to involve Christian parenting values by encouraging creativity and the joy of learning as gifts from God. To make this fall activity even more enriching, consider discussing the colors in both English and Spanish, helping toddlers develop bilingual skills early on. For example, explaining that mixing "amarillo" (yellow) and "rojo" (red) creates "naranja" (orange) is a fun bilingual learning moment. Overall, this fall color mixing activity is a perfect blend of play, education, and family bonding that nurtures your toddler’s adventurous spirit while celebrating the vibrant colors of the season.
