I have been thinking that ya fantasy isn’t for me anymore since 2024 wasn’t really the year for YA fantasy. I thought I was getting too old. So many of them don’t have good characters with a personality or even good reasons to be doing what they are doing. Then I read this!! fantasy books I want to read 🧚🏻🪄

my two biggest blind spots as far as genres go have always been YA and fantasy. Though I don’t naturally gravitate towards them i still like to keep an open mind and add them to my TBR when I come across them. This year I’m making more of a concerted effort to find books I like within these genres.

both of these books mix levity and darkness and definitely make you think! pet is one of those YA books that i think every adult should try. it explores utopia and justice and child predators and offers up some great reflection with an inclusive cast. and i usually recommend the undetectables
