What I’ve Learned About Supporting My Body

For so long, I thought my body was something I needed to fix. I believed that if I could just get rid of the breakouts, the bloating, the fatigue, the mood swings then I’d finally feel good in my skin. But the truth is, my body was never broken. It was always communicating with me. I just wasn’t listening.

The Lie We’ve Been Told

We’re taught to fight our bodies. To push through exhaustion, to ignore pain, to treat symptoms instead of understanding them. We’re told that if we have acne, painful periods, or fluctuating energy, something is wrong with us. But what if those things aren’t problems what if they’re signals? What if our bodies are just asking for support instead of punishment?

... Read moreSupporting your body involves a shift in perspective—viewing it as an ally rather than an adversary. Instead of pushing through exhaustion, consider rest as a vital part of your routine. Acknowledge the natural cycles of your body; for example, allow yourself gentle movement during your menstrual phase and focus on hydration instead of harsh treatments for breakouts. Recognizing that acne is often a signal of hormonal changes can help alleviate the feeling of failure in your skincare routine. Moreover, when symptoms arise, rather than seeking to eliminate them, try to understand their message. Symptoms like bloating or mood swings are not signs of weakness but indicators of what your body requires at that moment. Incorporating small, nourishing foods and stress-relief techniques can significantly enhance your well-being. Remember, supporting your body is about partnership; listen closely, be gentle, and trust that your body is inherently capable of healing and balance.
