The Real Reason I Leave Events Early

I’ve spent so many nights like this sitting in a room full of people, smiling, laughing at the right moments, and still feeling completely out of place. Social anxiety isn’t always obvious. Sometimes, it’s quiet. It looks like me overthinking every word I say, feeling like I don’t belong, and going home drained because I was on the whole time.

This post isn’t just a story. It’s a mirror for anyone who’s ever had to pretend they were okay in social settings when they were really just trying to survive it.

I’m not sharing this for sympathy. I’m sharing it because I know someone else out there has felt this too and you deserve to know you’re not weird, you’re not broken, and you’re not alone.

Thank you for sharing this. I suffer from social anxiety really bad. I end up reading a book just to avoid the awkwardness at times.
