How I Keep My 4C Hair Soft & Healthy with Oils

I don’t think my 4C hair is picky but it rejects some products, refuses others and sometimes just acts dramatic. But I’ve found a few oils & serums that actually listen to my hair.

I love how some give shine, some tame my roots and others keep my twists looking fresh. Honestly it’s all about mixing & matching depending on what my hair needs that day.

If you have 4C hair these are the ones I’d recommend trying first trust me, your hair might actually thank you.

From my experience, incorporating oils such as rosemary, black castor, jojoba, and coconut oil has made a noticeable difference in maintaining softness and overall health. I especially appreciate oils like the Difeel Rosemary Premium Hair Oil, which promotes hair growth and helps smooth split ends. Applying it every other day, particularly if you wear protective styles like braids or blowouts, keeps the hair soft and easy to style. Daily scalp care is crucial too. Products like the Pantene Difeel Rosemary Daily Scalp & Root Serum have been a game-changer for me, supporting scalp nourishment and keeping roots fresh. It’s important to consistently moisturize your scalp because a healthy scalp cultivates healthy hair growth. Jojoba oil is my go-to for hydration without weight. It's light enough not to clog hair follicles yet deeply nourishing, making it perfect for adding softness and enhancing shine. When adding it to your routine, use it especially during the colder months or dry seasons. Another essential oil I cannot overlook is organic virgin coconut oil. Applying it before shampooing can protect your strands from harsh cleansing agents, preserving moisture and preventing dryness. This method is excellent if you frequently use clarifying shampoos or wash your hair often. Lastly, to keep twists fresh and shiny, using a glycolic gloss serum such as Elvive’s Glycolic Gloss has helped significantly. It smooths the hair cuticle, making hair appear healthier and more vibrant. The key to success with 4C hair oils is not just choosing the right ones but mixing and matching according to your hair’s needs that day. This flexible approach allows you to customize your hair care regimen, ensuring your hair stays soft, healthy, and glowing all year round.
