Nightly Scripture/Prayer

Thoughts on Tonight’s Verse...

Our mouths can be filled with food, profanities, and gossip. Or we can choose for our mouths to be filled with praise for God and his loving grace. We can talk about many different subjects speaking to many people about various topics. Or we can choose to declare the greatness, majesty, and splendor of our heavenly Father all during our day. Why don't we choose to praise God with our mouths and tell him of his greatness and let others know of his grace as we go about today's activities? Then, at the end of our day, we can honor God one final time before sleeping when we say, "My mouth was filled with your praise as I declared your splendor all day long!"

... Read moreReading the original reflection on how we choose what fills our mouths really resonated with me. It truly highlights the power we have to direct our thoughts and words towards praise and honor, instead of letting negativity slip in. The 'Verse of the night Psalms 71:8' — "Let my mouth be filled with thy praise and with thy honour all the day" — isn't just a beautiful scripture; it's a profound invitation to live a life steeped in gratitude and adoration. For anyone searching for the 'psalm 71:8 meaning' or simply 'psalms quotes' to inspire their day, this verse from the 'psalm 71 kjv' offers immense comfort and direction. It’s a call to make praising God a continuous act, not just a fleeting moment. I used to think of praise mostly during church, but this verse, and the reflection, really challenged me to integrate it into my entire day. Imagine, from the moment you wake up, actively choosing to acknowledge God's greatness in everything you do! It makes such a difference in my outlook. So, how do we practically 'fill our mouth with praise and with thy honour all the day'? It starts with intentionality. For me, it means starting my morning with a little prayer of gratitude, even for the smallest things. Throughout the day, when I face a challenge or see something beautiful, I try to consciously offer a quick, silent word of praise. It's about cultivating an attitude of worship that becomes almost second nature. It's choosing to speak life and positivity, reflecting God's goodness instead of getting caught up in gossip or complaints. This simple choice, as the article suggests, truly shifts my perspective. And then, as the day winds down, the concept of 'good night prayers' takes on an even deeper meaning. It's not just about asking for blessings or protection; it's about capping off a day of praise with a final, heartfelt expression of honor. My own 'My Prayer...' is often a blend of gratitude for the day's blessings, an acknowledgment of God's 'mercy, love, grace, kindness,' and a renewed commitment to show admiration. It feels like a full circle, a beautiful way to conclude my day, ready for peaceful rest. Connecting this to other comforting 'psalms quotes,' like 'psalm 23' or 'psalm 91,' helps create a holistic picture of faith and trust. When we declare, "I will take refuge in the shadow of your wings" (a phrase often associated with Psalm 91), it’s another form of praise, acknowledging God's protection. These psalms remind us that in every season, there's a reason to praise, to honor, and to declare His splendor. Whether it's the gentle comfort of 'psalm 23:5' or the strength found in 'psalm 144 1 kjv,' these scriptures provide endless inspiration to keep our mouths, and our hearts, filled with praise.
