On behalf of Buffalo Metropolitan Federal Credit Union, we would to like sincerely thank everyone involved with Saturday’s Pathways to Prosperity event held at Olmstead School, presented by Buffalo Common Council Member Rasheed N.C. Wyatt.
From the volunteers, to the delicious breakfast, to the knowledge and care presented by the speakers, who so generously donated their time, and the parents, our youth in the community were empowered to make sound financial decisions.
Thanks to Councilman Wyatt, our Youth and Teen accounts were funded through a generous donation and we were happy to match the deposits already donated.
It’s just another way BMFCU, where “Banking is Better,” help our community grow and prosper, like we have since 1937 helping people achieve their financial goals at every stage of life. We hope to see you at the next event May 16.

Attending the Pathways to Prosperity event was a truly inspiring experience. It’s incredible to see a community come together with such dedication to youth empowerment. From personal observation, these kinds of financial literacy programs are vital for helping young people build a strong foundation for managing money responsibly. The generous donations funding Youth and Teen accounts show a promising commitment to nurturing smart savers and future financial leaders. Volunteering at similar events has revealed how impactful experiential learning is; hearing real stories and advice from speakers makes financial concepts more relatable and actionable. The communal breakfast and welcoming atmosphere also helped attendees feel comfortable asking questions, which enhances learning. BMFCU's long history since 1937 exemplifies the importance of trusted local institutions supporting every stage of financial growth. Initiatives like matching deposits create tangible incentives for youth participation and savings habits. If you’re part of a community aiming to uplift young people, organizing or attending events like these can make an enormous difference—from education to tangible resources. Planning to attend upcoming events, including the next one on May 16, would be a great way to stay engaged and continue fostering financial confidence. Plus, visiting BMFCU’s branch or website provides easy access to account options tailored for younger members.
