What I learned about purity before&after marriage🌸

Let me skip straight to it…

1. Surrender: Ask God to help you to control your sexual desires. Sex isn’t bad. However, Sex outside of marriage can be bad for you because it can lead to unwanted relationships, feelings, or desires that prolong or prevent you from becoming every good thing God has planned for your life.

2. Know Your Why: Have a reason why you want to give up sexual sin. Is it the feeling of guilt? Shame? What is your reason? Having a why, or reason, to give up sexual sin will help you in times where you want to go back to it.

3. People Who Support You: Your tribe will either make or break your success. Surround yourself with people who will hold you accountable, so you can succeed in breaking free from sexual sin.

These are the main three that have helped me to be successful in purity. May they bless and empower you on your journey✨

Sidebar: if you want more simple tips like this to master purity, I recommend you to check out my book “The Affair: How To Manage Sex In Singleness” on Amazon ✨💕

... Read moreMy journey to protecting my purity, especially after realizing how much sexual sin was holding me back, has been incredibly transformative. It’s not just about abstaining; it’s about a holistic approach to life that brings genuine freedom and peace. The initial steps of surrender, knowing my 'why,' and finding my tribe were foundational, but I quickly learned there was so much more to unpack. One key area for me was truly understanding how to break free from sexual sin on a daily basis. It’s a battle fought in the mind first. I started implementing a daily 'purity check-in' – a personal, free scan of my thoughts and intentions each morning. This isn't a rigid test, but more like taking a moment to acknowledge where my mind is, what triggers I might face, and setting an intention for the day. It’s about being proactive rather than reactive. If I noticed thoughts or images creeping in, I’d immediately redirect them through prayer or by focusing on something positive and productive. This practice helped me to identify patterns and develop strategies specific to my vulnerabilities. Another powerful tool has been setting clear boundaries, not just externally, but internally. Initially, I thought purity was solely about physical actions, but I soon realized it encompasses what I consume visually, what conversations I engage in, and even the fantasies I allow myself to entertain. For instance, I became intentional about what media I expose myself to. If a show or movie consistently led my thoughts astray, I simply stopped watching it. It felt like a small sacrifice at first, but the peace of mind it brought was immeasurable. These aren't about being legalistic, but about safeguarding my spiritual and emotional well-being. I also learned the importance of filling the void. When you commit to break free from sexual sin, you’re taking something out of your life. It’s crucial to replace that space with something positive and life-giving. For me, this meant diving deeper into my faith, cultivating new hobbies, and investing more time in meaningful relationships that uplifted me. Instead of dwelling on what I was giving up, I shifted my focus to what I was gaining: self-respect, deeper connections, and a clearer purpose. It’s like clearing out clutter – once the old is gone, you have space for what truly matters. Finally, forgiveness and grace became central to my continued progress. There were days I stumbled, moments of weakness, or old habits that tried to resurface. In those times, instead of falling into a spiral of guilt and shame, I learned to extend grace to myself, acknowledge the slip, seek forgiveness, and immediately get back on track. This wasn't an excuse to be complacent, but a recognition that growth is a process, not a perfect linear path. Regularly checking in, like a personal mental 'free scan,' helps me stay accountable and remember that every new day is an opportunity to recommit to a life of purity and freedom. It has truly transformed my entire outlook on life.
