For a long time, I believed intuitive eating wasn’t for me.

When I first heard about it, I thought, “If I eat intuitively, I’ll just eat everything.”

And that fear made sense—I used to binge. I didn’t trust myself with food.

What changed wasn’t discipline alone.

What changed was where I placed my trust.

But I realized I didn’t need to trust myself—I needed to trust Jesus. In my weakness, He is strong (2 Corinthians 12:9).

That’s when intuitive eating became mindful eating.

I learned to pause. To pay attention. To choose what’s beneficial—not perfectly, but intentionally.

Fast forward to today: this is part of our weigh in Wednesday’s first weigh-in of the year, alongside my 2024 and 2025 logs. Proof that slow, faith-led consistency works.

Plus, today’s meal reflects that mindset.

One plate with plenty of protein, and on the side—cake. Why? Because it was my brother’s birthday 🎂

I don’t restrict. I don’t label food as good or bad. I’m simply mindful about what I consume.

This cake isn’t part of my current fast for more of Jesus, for more fire, to burn for God, to grow, be in good health and prosper in every way as my soul prospers and help other do the same…

No no, this cake is not part of my OMAD right now, but it could be part of a future OMAD lifestyle—if and when I choose. We don’t consider foods good or bad!

Mindful eating allows flexibility without losing control.

A slice of cake does doesn’t define me nor does the scale… it informs me.

I’m focused on a healthy relationship with food for better health and good stewardship to fulfill my purpose… but I’m not rushing results.

I’m picking up my mat and walking (John 5:8).

Seeking first the Kingdom and trusting everything else will follow (Matthew 6:33) or unfollow ⚖️🤪

If this way of living speaks to you, we have resources to support you—journals, weigh-in logs, monthly fasts and guidance via our Facebook Group and weekly lives with prayer, and faith-based mindful eating encouragement.

And let God bless your health. ❤️

... Read moreWhen I first began exploring mindful eating, I had many of the same fears—what if I lost control? Could I really trust myself around food? What helped me most was shifting my focus from strict discipline to building a faith-driven relationship with eating. Mindful eating is about being present and aware of what you consume, not about rigid rules or labeling foods as good or bad. I found that carving out intentional moments to pause and listen to my body changed everything. Instead of reacting impulsively or with fear, I started making intentional choices that nourish both my body and spirit. For example, enjoying a slice of birthday cake without guilt was a powerful lesson: flexibility doesn't mean lack of control, it means freedom from judgment. Through this approach, I've been able to balance health priorities, like including plenty of protein in meals, without missing out on life’s joyful occasions. Trusting Jesus gave me strength in moments of weakness and helped me approach eating with grace and patience. Mindful eating isn’t about perfection but about steady, faith-led consistency. For those considering this path, I recommend journaling your food choices and feelings to build awareness, joining supportive communities for encouragement, and embracing a mindset that values progress over perfection. Integrating scripture and prayer into your health journey can deepen your resolve and bring peace. Ultimately, mindful eating helped me develop a sustainable and healthy relationship with food, empowering me to honor my body as a temple and fulfill my purpose with vitality and joy.

Comment your thoughts! These are mine. Quality of relationship, intentionality, maturity, and stage of life are all aspects to consider. With that as an established consideration, I don’t think the length of relationship is a one size fits all. It depends on where you lie in each of those areas
