Read moreIn studying the four key covenants of the Old Testament—namely the Abrahamic, Mosaic, Davidic, and the New Covenant—it becomes clear how each is intertwined with the overarching plan of redemption culminating in Jesus Christ. Through my own experience with Bible journaling, I found that visually mapping these covenants helped me understand their significance and connections better. The Abrahamic Covenant introduces God’s promise of a chosen people and blessing that remains central to the biblical narrative. It establishes a godly lineage, which, as the OCR content hints, continues through figures like David, shaping Israel's identity and hope. Moving forward, the Mosaic Covenant, with its laws and tablets, sets a divine standard for the people, emphasizing obedience and the need for holiness. It reveals humanity’s need for a savior because of the inability to fully keep the law. The Davidic Covenant assures the establishment of an enduring kingdom through David’s lineage, directly pointing to Jesus as the eternal King. Reflecting on this, I saw the “world hope on an enduring king” as mentioned in the OCR, which aligns with Jesus fulfilling this promise. Finally, the New Covenant, prophesied in Jeremiah and fulfilled in Jesus, offers a renewed relationship with God through grace rather than law. For anyone beginning Bible study, recognizing these covenants not only aids comprehension but also enriches faith by highlighting God’s consistent plan. Using tools like Bible journaling has personally helped me engage with Scripture in a more profound way, making these ancient promises come alive and deepening my understanding of redemption through Jesus.
