As I continue my Old Testament studies 📖, I’ve been pondering about the purpose of each thing the Lord commanded them to do.
While some things would eventually be fulfilled and come to an end, such as animal sacrifices 🐑, other things are continual in the gospel of Christ ✝️.
For example, the Lord never put an end to the Ten Commandments 🔟. To be a faithful disciple of Christ, a man or woman is still required to not take the Lord’s name in vain 🙏, not lie 🚫, not cheat ❌, not steal 🛑, not covet another person’s spouse 💔 or even property 🏡, and keep the sabbath day holy 🌤️.
And yet, people lie, cheat, covet, dishonor parents 👨👩👧, dishonor the sanctity of the sabbath 🕊️, and take the Lord’s name in vain daily 😔.
Thankfully, the Savior’s loving sacrifice and atonement makes repentance possible ❤️🩹.
Please remember my dear friends and neighbors 🤝 that, though repentance is possible, sin is never acceptable to the Lord 🚫. We can do better each day 🌅 and choose to not let ourselves become entangled in the sins that have become so rampant in the world 🌍.
We are not alone 🤍. You are not alone 🤍. We can lovingly look after one another as Jesus taught 🤲.

Read moreFrom my personal reflection on the Old Testament, I’ve noticed that the various laws and covenants were designed not just as rules but as profound markers that lead us closer to understanding Christ's role in our salvation. One aspect that truly stood out to me was how the animal sacrifices symbolized the need for atonement and pointed directly to the ultimate sacrifice Jesus would make for all humanity.
Moreover, the establishment of a tabernacle in the wilderness highlighted the sacredness of God’s presence and the importance of holiness. This structure was not merely a physical place but a continual reminder for the Israelites to seek God’s presence and guidance. Even though these specific practices ceased with Christ’s fulfillment of the law, the underlying principles endure in the gospel.
I realized how the Ten Commandments still serve as a foundation for moral living. They aren’t outdated rules but timeless instructions that demonstrate how we can honor God and live harmoniously with others. For example, commandments about honesty, respect for others’ property, and keeping the Sabbath holy remind me daily that discipleship is both about internal character and outward behavior.
Repentance plays a vital role here. We often fall short—committing sins like lying, dishonoring the Sabbath, or coveting—but the Savior’s atonement offers a path to healing and spiritual renewal. It’s comforting to know that while sin is unacceptable, God’s love and mercy provide second chances. This balance motivates me to strive continually for better choices, supported by faith and community.
In practice, embracing these laws and covenants means making deliberate efforts every day to reflect Christ-like love and integrity. It’s encouraging to remember that we are not alone in this journey; as disciples, we support one another in following the Savior’s teachings and living with kindness and holiness in a challenging world.
