Processed Food Isn’t The Problem

I used to hate this scripture because it felt like permission to be a mindless eater but Matthew 15:11 can’t be ignored in that it’s not what goes into a man that defiles him. And honestly… it took me years to really understand that.

I don’t personally prefer ultra or any processed foods for that matter… they don’t sit well with my stomach. Brett, on the other hand, enjoys them, and he takes great care of himself. He knows that if he wants to eat those things, he has to work out hard and often… and that’s a trade-off he’s willing to make.

I’m not willing to work out like he does, so I choose more simple, one-ingredient meals.

And that’s the point: we’re different.

If you’ve tried to force yourself into a box 📦

❌ “I can’t eat this.”

❌ “I should only eat that.”

❌ “Ultra-processed is bad.”

❌ “Healthy food doesn’t taste good.”

and none of it feels true to you… breathe.

Maybe you’re wired more like Brett.

Maybe you’re wired more like me.

Maybe you’re somewhere in between.

The real question is: “Lord, how do You want me to care for my temple?”

That answer is personal. Purposeful. Spirit-led.

We’re here to encourage you to renew your mind, seek God’s wisdom for your own body, and walk this journey with intention. And if you want a place to start, our Mindful Eating Journal can guide you day by day. Access via link in Bio or www.bgkrupnick.com

And make sure to follow us for encouragement as you grow, learn, and uncover what stewardship of your temple looks like for you.

And let God bless your health. ❤️

... Read moreNavigating the realm of nutrition can often feel restrictive, especially when cultural or societal messages paint processed foods as universally harmful. However, it's essential to recognize that individual needs and circumstances greatly influence what constitutes a healthy diet. As highlighted in the article, referencing Matthew 15:11, it's not merely the food itself but the intention and care behind our choices that shape our well-being. Many people find that ultra-processed foods don't agree with their bodies, and choosing simple, whole-ingredient meals works better for their health. Others, like Brett in the article, can include these foods in moderation while maintaining rigorous physical activity to balance their lifestyle. This underscores a vital point: there is no one-size-fits-all approach to nutrition. Mindful eating rooted in personal faith and spirituality encourages us to ask reflective questions such as, "Lord, how do You want me to care for my temple?" This introspective approach helps create a purposeful and Spirit-led diet plan that honors both body and soul. It encourages tuning into how different foods make us feel and what our bodies uniquely require. Moreover, shedding preconceived notions — like "ultra-processed foods are bad" or "healthy food doesn’t taste good" — can liberate us from food guilt and foster a healthier relationship with eating. This mindset encourages flexibility, self-compassion, and adaptability, recognizing that what works wonderfully for one person might not work for another. Practicing faith-based wellness and mindful eating not only improves physical health but also nourishes emotional and spiritual well-being. Tools such as a Mindful Eating Journal can guide daily reflection and intentional food choices, supporting personal growth on this journey. In summary, processed food isn’t inherently the problem; rather, how we perceive and incorporate it into our lives matters. By seeking wisdom, renewing our minds, and embracing individual differences, we can steward our bodies in ways that feel authentic and sustainable, leading to holistic health and spiritual fulfillment.
