Don’t go here unless you can handle HEAT 🌶️🔥
POV: You order the most innocent-looking chicken and it ends up being the spicy plot twist of the night. 🫢🌶️
We finally checked out Sankranti Restaurant for some Andhra-style food and the flavours were seriously 10/10. Most of the meal was pure comfort food, but one dish in particular absolutely caught us off guard.
The "Warning" Dish:
The Pachimirchi Kodi (Green Chilli Chicken) [$15.90]. It looks so mild and green, but the heat sneaks up on you out of nowhere! 🥵 The chicken is super tender and marinated perfectly, but we were definitely chugging our drinks halfway through. 🏃♀️💨
What else we ordered (and loved):
* Sankranti Special ($15.50): The ultimate "everything" platter. It’s massive and comes with rice, curries, rasam, and even dessert. Such a steal for sharing! 👯♀️
* Masala Pomfret Fry ($22): Super fresh and the masala is 10/10. 🐟✨
* Mushroom Cheese Kebab ($14.90): Creamy, cheesy, and a nice break from the spice.
* Okra Pepper Salt ($13.90): A low-key addictive stir-fry.
💡 Pro-tip for survival:
Do yourself a favour and order the Mango Lassi ($6.50) or Lime Mint Basil ($5.50). You’ll definitely appreciate having them on standby if you’re brave enough to try that green chilli chicken! 🧊🔥

If you're a spice enthusiast like me, Sankranti Restaurant is a must-visit spot in Singapore that tests your heat tolerance with authentic Andhra-style dishes. The highlight, Pachimirchi Kodi, might look deceptively mild with its green chilli coating, but the flavors sneak up to deliver a serious kick. I found that the tender chicken combined with the intense green chilli masala was a perfect balance of flavor and spice—definitely not for the faint-hearted. What truly elevates the experience at Sankranti is their variety. The Sankranti Special platter offers a comprehensive meal with rice, curries, rasam, and even dessert, making it an excellent choice for sharing with friends who appreciate wholesome and spicy Indian food. The Masala Pomfret Fry is another dish that impressed me; the freshness of the fish harmonized beautifully with the bold spices. For those who prefer something milder but equally delicious, the Mushroom Cheese Kebab serves as a creamy, cheesy respite from the heat. A pro tip from my experience: the Mango Lassi is indispensable—a cool, sweet drink that smoothly counters the fiery dishes. Alternatively, the refreshing Lime Mint Basil drink provides a sharp, cooling effect that helps balance the intense spice. Aside from the amazing food, the location near Mustafa Centre on Syed Alwi Road makes it accessible for a late-night snack or a spicy date night adventure. If you're looking to challenge your spice limits or simply enjoy vibrant Andhra flavors, Sankranti Restaurant offers an unforgettable culinary journey. Don’t forget to bring a friend who can handle the heat—or better yet, one who needs to be humbled by it! This green chilli chicken is certainly a fiery plot twist that'll keep you reaching for your drinks and coming back for more spicy goodness.
