The unagi castle Singapore is sleeping on 👀🔥

Because apparently we order castles for dinner now 🏯😂

Man Man Japanese Unagi at Clarke Quay and this Castle Hitsumabushi Set is genuinely one of the most fun dining experiences we have had in a while ✨

Here is how the castle breaks down 👇

🐟 Top layer

Fresh sashimi, clean, cold and exactly what you want if you are a raw fish person

🍱 Middle layer

Grilled fish, tamago, edamame and umesuisho. Feels like a little sharing platter moment and honestly so good on its own

🍚 Bottom layer (the one you actually came for)

Unagi on rice and here is where it gets fun because you get THREE ways to eat it

Straight up for that full pure unagi flavour 🤤

With teriyaki sauce for the sweet savoury hit 😮‍💨

Pour in the dashi broth and it becomes the most comforting bowl you did not know you needed 🍵

That last one genuinely hit different and we are still thinking about it 😩

Portion leans lighter so this is perfect as a shared dinner for two when you are after a good experience over a massive feast 🙂

Do not leave without ordering this 👇

🍡 Mochi Mochi Dango

You grill it yourself over a tiny stove at the table and it is way more entertaining than it sounds. Char it up then dip into sweet sauce, peanut or red bean. Finished it embarrassingly fast and felt zero regret 😂

To drink we had the Bear’s Yuzu Honey Lemon which is super zesty and fizzy 🍋 and a Matcha Latte to balance everything out 🍵 Both solid choices!

If you are hunting for a dinner spot in Singapore that feels a little different and genuinely fun, save this one 👀

Which of the three hitsumabushi styles would you go for first?

Man Man Japanese Unagi (Clarke Quay)
5/6 Edited to

... Read moreIf you’re a fan of Japanese cuisine or looking to try something uniquely memorable in Singapore, the Unagi Hitsumabushi Castle at Man Man Japanese Unagi offers not just a meal but an experience. The multi-layered presentation introduces an interactive element rarely seen in typical dining, perfect for sharing and enjoying with a friend or loved one. What stands out most is the bottom layer: the unagi (freshwater eel) rice presented with three different ways to enjoy. Savoring the unagi plain offers an authentic taste of this delicacy, whereas adding teriyaki sauce introduces a balanced sweet and savory profile that enriches the flavor complexity. The true game-changer, however, is pouring in the dashi broth, transforming the dish into a warm, comforting bowl that elevates the meal to a new level of satisfaction and depth. The mochi mochi dango dessert adds a playful finish to the meal, with the interactive grilling on a personal stove bringing a fun, engaging activity right at your table. Paired with refreshing Bear’s Yuzu Honey Lemon and a soothing Matcha Latte, the drinks complement and balance the flavors perfectly, enhancing the overall dining experience. Man Man Japanese Unagi’s approach in Clarke Quay reflects thoughtful attention to both flavor and presentation, ensuring diners enjoy a well-rounded taste adventure. Its portion sizing makes it ideal for sharing, encouraging discovery over quantity, which is perfect if you’re more about the experience and quality rather than just a filling meal. If you find yourself in Singapore and craving a Japanese meal that’s both delicious and out of the ordinary, this hitsumabushi castle is a must-try. Whether you're a seasoned fan of unagi or new to Japanese grilled eel, the three distinct serving methods will cater to all taste preferences and delight your palate in unexpected ways.

Unagi Yondaime: Crispy Tender Unagi in Orchard
In Singapore, you can always get relatively affordable unagi at most sushi restaurants. That said, whenever I try a premium charcoal grilled unagi, I am always pleasantly surprised with the difference. At Unagi Yondaime , I was certainly served a great bowl of unagi that I feel deserves its premium

one of the better-quality unagi in SG!
I guess most people are familiar with Man Man Japanese Unagi (Clarke Quay) ? Their eel is imported live from Mikawa (Aichi) and grilled over charcoal upon order, so you get perfectly charred, tender and fragrant unagi every time. Enjoy the unagi on its own, or pair it with fresh seafood, wag
