BAKING HACK!!!

2024/11/12 Edited to

... Read moreHey beauties! So, if you're anything like me, you've probably heard the term 'makeup baking' floating around the beauty world and wondered, 'What is baking?!' Well, let me tell you, once I figured out this game-changing technique, my makeup routine was never the same! It's truly one of those baking hacks that everyone needs to know. Basically, makeup baking involves applying a thick layer of translucent setting powder over areas where you've applied foundation and concealer – typically under the eyes, jawline, and T-zone. You let it 'bake' or sit on your skin for 5-10 minutes, allowing the heat from your face to set your liquid products, and then you gently dust off the excess. The magic? It creates a super smooth, creaseless finish that locks your makeup in place for hours, prevents oiliness, and brightens those areas. I used to struggle with my concealer settling into fine lines or my foundation looking patchy by midday. But ever since I incorporated baking into my routine, my foundation is already set, and everything just looks flawless. I've been loving the Kosas Cloud Set powder for this – especially the Shade: Candy if you're looking for a brightening effect – because it's so finely milled and doesn't look cakey. Remember, baking goes on top of set foundation and concealer, so make sure your base is blended well before you start. Now, for those of you looking for more baking hacks to really elevate your look, here are some of my personal tips and tricks: Don't Overdo It: While you want a visible layer of powder, you don't need to pile on half the jar. A generous amount is key, but going overboard can lead to a chalky finish. Use the Right Tool: I find a damp beauty sponge works best for pressing the powder onto my skin. This really helps to melt the product in and create that seamless finish. A fluffy brush is then perfect for dusting off the excess. Targeted Baking: You don't have to bake your entire face! Focus on areas that tend to crease or get oily, like under your eyes, around your nose, and your forehead. This is especially good for those with drier skin who might find full-face baking too drying. Reverse Baking for Dry Skin: If you have dry skin but still want the benefits of setting powder, try reverse baking! Apply your setting powder before your liquid foundation and concealer. This creates a barrier that can help absorb oil without clinging to dry patches. Then apply your liquids as usual. Let it Sit, But Don't Forget It: The 'baking' time is important, but don't leave it on for too long, especially if you're new to it. Start with 5 minutes and adjust based on your skin type and desired effect. Too long can make your skin look overly matte or dehydrated. Dust Off Thoroughly: This is crucial! Use a clean, fluffy brush to gently sweep away all the excess powder. If you leave too much on, you'll end up with a white cast, especially in photos. Choose Your Powder Wisely: While I adore Kosas Cloud Set, there are many fantastic translucent setting powders out there. Look for finely milled powders that don't have flashback. Some affordable options I've tried include Coty Airspun or the E.l.f. Halo Glow Setting Powder. Hydrate First: Ensure your skin is well-hydrated before applying makeup. Baking can be drying, so a good moisturizer and a hydrating primer can make a huge difference in how your skin looks after. Incorporating these baking hacks into my routine has honestly been a game-changer for achieving that airbrushed, long-lasting look. It takes a little practice, but trust me, the results are worth it! Give it a try and let me know your favorite baking tips!
