Moreover, research supports this practice: studies indicate shoe soles can harbor pathogens such as E. coli and C. diff, which may survive for weeks indoors. Regularly wearing shoes inside essentially deposits a microbial and chemical load onto your floors, affecting not just surfaces but also indoor air quality. This is why I ask anyone who enters into my home to please take off their shoes or wear disposable shoe booties which I provide. I keep a box of disposables near each entrance.
