Trying to stay fit
It's easy to get caught up in fitness trends or comparisons, but for me, as a 5'7" woman around 140 pounds, finding a sustainable and healthy approach has been crucial. My goal isn't about achieving an "ideal" number, but about feeling strong, energized, and confident in my own skin. Here's a peek into what’s worked for me on my journey to staying fit. I’ve found that a balanced fitness routine is key. I aim for a mix of strength training and cardio throughout the week. For strength, I usually do 2-3 sessions focusing on compound movements like squats, deadlifts, and presses, often using free weights or resistance bands. I don't go for extreme heavy lifting, but consistent resistance has really helped sculpt my muscles and boost my metabolism. For cardio, I love brisk walking outdoors, cycling, or even a fun dance workout. About 30-45 minutes, 3-4 times a week, keeps my heart healthy and my energy levels up. And I can't stress this enough – don't forget flexibility! A good stretch routine or a gentle yoga session a few times a week makes a huge difference in preventing injuries and improving overall mobility. Nutrition plays an equally vital role. I focus on eating whole, unprocessed foods as much as possible. My plate usually consists of lean proteins (chicken, fish, legumes), plenty of colorful vegetables, healthy fats (avocado, nuts), and complex carbohydrates (oats, brown rice, sweet potatoes). I've learned that paying attention to my KCAL intake, without obsessing over it, has been transformative. I use an app to get a general idea of my daily caloric needs and track what I eat for a few days to ensure I'm hitting my macros and not overdoing it. It’s about awareness, not deprivation. Drinking plenty of water throughout the day is another simple yet powerful habit that aids digestion and keeps me feeling full. To keep myself accountable and motivated, I rely on tracking my progress. While I don't use a specific 'irMaster' brand, I do use a fitness tracker that helps me monitor my daily steps, estimated KCAL burn, and even sleep patterns. Seeing those numbers helps me visualize my activity levels and make adjustments where needed. For instance, if I see my KCAL burn is lower than usual, I might add an extra walk the next day. It’s not about perfection, but about consistent effort and learning what works best for my body. Finally, mindset is everything. There will be days when motivation dips, or when I indulge a little more than planned. And that's okay! It's about getting back on track the next day, not dwelling on setbacks. Listening to my body, prioritizing rest, and celebrating small victories have been crucial for long-term success. This isn't a quick fix, it's a sustainable lifestyle. It took me a while to find my rhythm, but I feel stronger, healthier, and more confident than ever. I hope sharing my journey helps you on yours!
