What Hurts Me Most

Why do I have so much guilt?

It was never my job to care for you, to protect you.

After all the trauma I can still say I wish things could’ve been done differently.

I wish we all had a happily ever after.

I wish we could’ve continued the yearly trips.

I wish we could all come together and talk about our week.

Most of all I wish we could all come together with love in our hearts.

There’s so much pain, hatred, anger, resentment.

Where would we even start?

Honestly, I don’t even want to rehash it. I just want to start over and be happy with you all.

The reality is it may never happen.

He’s stuck in his ego.

She’s in her own world.

And then there’s you.

But if you are all I have then I’ll take it.

I guess what’s hurting me most are the things that were said and what was left unsaid.

When will I accept reality?
