Each step is designed to undo damage caused by the previous, yet is necessary to maintain a socially acceptable standard of appearance. Lastly, wardrobe management and the mental load associated with coordinating looks for different events—ranging from "no-makeup makeup" to a more polished expensive appearance—require careful planning and emotional labor. Keeping an "emergency purse" inside another, stocking undergarments engineered for comfort, and managing a rotating wardrobe become everyday projects.
