Can you name a brand that no longer exists?

Oh my goodness, this topic instantly takes me back! It’s wild to think about how many brands we grew up with that are now just a memory, totally unknown to Gen Z or Gen Alpha. I saw the original post asking to name brands younger generations wouldn't know, and it got me thinking about all the places I used to love. Seriously, let's try to confuse the younger generation – it's a fun challenge! For me, one of the biggest losses from the 80s and 90s has to be Sears. I practically grew up in their stores! From buying clothes for school to browsing electronics and even getting our appliances there, Sears was a cornerstone of American retail for so long. It’s hard to imagine that a brand with such a massive presence could just... fade away. When I mention it to my younger cousins, they just stare at me blankly! Thinking about the 80s brands that no longer exist, my mind immediately goes to things like Blockbuster Video. Remember the thrill of walking down those aisles on a Friday night, picking out a movie and some candy? Or the panic of late fees? Gen Z has streaming, but they missed out on that whole experience. And what about Atari? While the name still exists, the original home console giant that defined early gaming is a shadow of its former self, paving the way for Nintendo and PlayStation. Fashion-wise, I remember brands like Esprit being huge, with their bright, preppy clothes. They're still around in some form, but not with the same widespread popularity they had back then. Moving into the 90s brands that no longer exist, or at least not in their original glory, Toys "R" Us is a heartbreaking one for me. Geoffrey the Giraffe was synonymous with childhood joy! Every birthday and Christmas list started and ended there. It was a wonderland of toys, and its closure left such a void. On the fashion front, I think of brands like Limited Too for younger girls, or how massive JNCO jeans were – those super wide-leg pants! Can you imagine Gen Z trying to rock those? Or even just the sheer volume of mall stores that were once vibrant hubs but are now ghost towns. And then the 2000s brands that no longer exist or transformed beyond recognition. Remember when MySpace was the social media platform? Everyone had their custom profile, choosing their top 8 friends. It felt so personal compared to today’s sleek interfaces. And who could forget Tower Records? Browsing CDs for hours was a Saturday ritual for many of us. With the rise of digital music, it just couldn't keep up. Even some mobile phone brands, like the original glory days of Nokia, with their indestructible phones and Snake game, feel like a distant memory in the age of smartphones. It's fascinating (and a little sad) to see how quickly consumer tastes and technology evolve, leading to the disappearance of once-dominant brands. From shifts in shopping habits to new tech innovations, many just couldn't adapt. It makes you wonder what brands today will be forgotten in another 20-30 years! So, I’d love to hear from you!
