Faith doesn’t always look confident

Faith doesn’t always look confident… and honestly? Thank God for that.

Sometimes faith looks like showing up tired.

Still praying, but side-eyeing the process.

Still believing, even while whispering, “Okay God… I’m here, but whew.”

Faith isn’t always bold declarations and perfect posture.

Sometimes it’s staying when leaving would be easier.

Sometimes it’s choosing hope with shaky hands.

Sometimes it’s saying, “I don’t have the strength today, so You’re going to have to carry this.”

And listen, staying doesn’t mean I’m not questioning.

It means I’m committed.

It means I trust God enough to sit in the tension instead of running from it.

This is faith with receipts.

Faith that breathes.

Faith that rests.

Faith that stays anyway.

If that’s you today, you’re not weak.

You’re faithful in a very real way.

... Read moreFaith often gets portrayed as confident and unwavering, but in reality, it frequently looks quite different. It can be messy, humble, and even uncertain at times. This more vulnerable side of faith is perfectly normal and, in fact, beautiful because it shows the depth of a person’s commitment despite the challenges they face. Sometimes, faith means showing up tired and worn out, yet still praying and holding on. It’s not always a loud proclamation; it can be a quiet whisper of hope in moments of doubt. For many, faith means choosing to stay when leaving would be easier, and it reflects strength in persistence rather than outward certainty. The phrase "faith with receipts" perfectly captures this reality—faith accompanied by honest emotions and real-life struggles. It acknowledges that faith is not about having all the answers but about trusting enough to rest and breathe through uncertainty. This kind of faith honors human frailty while affirming spiritual endurance. Additionally, faith involves sitting in tension—acknowledging doubts and questions without retreating. It’s about commitment that persists even when it’s uncomfortable or difficult. This approach resonates with anyone who has experienced moments of spiritual struggle yet chooses to remain engaged and hopeful. The phrase from the image, "Faith doesn’t always look confident. Sometimes it looks like staying anyway," beautifully summarizes this idea. Staying does not mean ignoring questions; it means choosing trust and hope despite them. Recognizing the authentic, imperfect nature of faith can be liberating for many. It frees individuals from the pressure to appear strong or flawless and validates their real experiences of struggle and growth. By sharing and embracing this nuanced view, people can build a more compassionate, supportive faith community where vulnerability is seen as strength rather than weakness. In essence, faith is a journey filled with moments of confidence and doubt alike. By honoring both, we allow room for genuine spiritual growth and deeper connection with ourselves and others.
