Obedience doesn’t always mean immediate answer
Waiting for answers, especially when you’ve done everything right, can be one of the most challenging experiences in faith. I’ve personally struggled with the misconception that obedience guarantees immediate results—that if I follow God’s commands perfectly, life will unfold smoothly without delay. However, like the couple mentioned in Luke’s gospel, who were righteous yet faced barrenness and advanced age, we sometimes must endure waiting periods that test our trust. In my experience, these periods of delay have been opportunities for growth rather than punishment. They called me to develop a deeper, more quiet trust, realizing that God’s timing is not always aligned with our expectations. This waiting became a time of preparation—emotionally, spiritually, and even relationally—to bear fruits that would not have been possible otherwise. One practical approach I found helpful was embracing the concept of “delayed but not denied.” It reminded me that a delay in answer doesn’t mean God has rejected my prayers or obedience; instead, He might be positioning me for something greater. This mindset helped me remain faithful during times of hardship, focusing on maintaining a blameless walk as the couple did, rather than demanding immediate explanations or outcomes. I also learned that obedience isn’t transactional; it isn’t a checklist that prompts automatic rewards. It is a posture of the heart—a continuous commitment to live faithfully, even in uncertainty. This understanding brought peace amid struggles and disappointments, allowing me to rest in the hope that my waiting has a purpose. Ultimately, trusting God’s timing requires patience and faith that extend beyond our logic. It means believing that the pain and delay are being used to prepare us for blessings we can’t yet see. Sharing this journey of faith with others has reinforced my conviction that we are not alone in our waiting, and that God is always at work, shaping us for something far greater than instant answers.
