Running for my mental health 👟🧠

You don't have to be stuck in the rut you're in. You can make better choices for yourself one step at a time! Putting in even the tiniest bit of effort can make a huge difference.

If you feel you could benefit from the Starting Line Scholarship, I encourage you to apply! They provide shoes, running gear, coaching, and so much more! It was a wonderful experience that I feel blessed to have had.

Being a mom is one of my greatest blessings, but it's also the hardest adjustment l've ever had to make. It can be difficult feeling like everything has changed - my time, my priorities, my body — and some days I feel like l've lost who I was.

I'm so thankful to Still I Run for choosing me as a recipient of the Starting Line Scholarship and connecting me with resources to help me start running for my mental health. It's helped me learn to take care of myself and make time for me so that I may be a better mother.

... Read moreRunning is more than just a physical activity; it serves as a powerful tool for mental health recovery. Engaging in regular running can provide a cathartic release for stress and anxiety, allowing individuals to clear their minds. According to research, exercise releases endorphins, the body's natural mood lifters, leading to enhanced feelings of happiness and accomplishment. The Starting Line Scholarship offers invaluable support for new runners, including gear and coaching, making the transition more accessible. Many participants report heightened motivation and accountability through guided programs, significantly contributing to their success. For those considering exploring running, setting realistic goals can help in overcoming initial hurdles; for instance, starting with a simple walk-run routine gradually builds endurance and confidence. Furthermore, being in nature while running can greatly boost one's mood. Many find that being outdoors, breathing fresh air, and observing their surroundings creates a calming effect. Engaging with communities or groups, such as Still I Run, can foster a sense of belonging and shared experiences, crucial factors for mental health improvement. For parents and busy individuals, running can also be a time for self-reflection and personal empowerment. Making time to run can enhance one’s ability to cope with stresses from parenting and daily life. By dedicating moments to personal fitness, it can lead to greater resilience, ultimately benefiting families and relationships. If you’re interested in starting your journey, consider searching for local running groups or programs. Remember, every step counts, and taking that first step can lead to transformative change.
