As a huge fan of the Marvel universe, there are so many character dynamics that just capture my imagination. But honestly, few have delighted me as much as the 'Winter Dad' concept, pairing our beloved Bucky Barnes with the ever-optimistic Peter Parker, aka Spiderson! It's a fan theory that's gained so much traction, and for good reason—who wouldn't want to see the Winter Soldier take on a protective, somewhat grumpy, father-figure role for our friendly neighborhood Spider-Man? When I sat down to create this sketch, I really wanted to capture the essence of what makes this duo so appealing. I focused on their distinct personalities, bringing them to life as cartoon-style headshots on my trusty notebook paper. For Peter Parker, I envisioned that youthful, bright-eyed energy, and made sure to give him a light-hearted smile and his signature light hair. It perfectly embodies his hopeful nature, even when facing the toughest villains. You can almost hear him cracking a quippy joke, can't you? Then for Bucky Barnes, the 'Winter Dad' himself, I aimed for that classic serious expression, but with a hint of underlying warmth or protectiveness. His dark, textured hair adds to that rugged, experienced look that just screams 'I've seen things, kid.' I think it’s this contrast—Peter’s youthful exuberance against Bucky’s world-weary wisdom—that makes their 'Winter Dad' dynamic so compelling. It's the idea of someone who’s been through so much finding a new sense of purpose in looking out for someone else, especially someone as pure-hearted as Peter.
