A: People really hate or gossip about people who don't know each other is mainly due to a number of psychological and social mechanisms:
1. First Impression & Stereotypes: The brain is designed to judge things quickly for safety. When you see someone, you will accidentally compare it to the original experience or the instantaneous memory (Stereotype). It makes you feel unpleasant just by seeing certain gestures, dresses, or traits that are not being discussed.
2. Social Comparison Protection: Sometimes gossip helps people feel "better" or "superior." Pressing others down with negative words or feelings temporarily strengthens their confidence, especially when the person has something they don't have or is deep in their jealousy.
3. Social Bonding: In sociology, having a "common enemy" or gossiping about other people is the easiest way to build intimacy in a group of friends. Gossip helps people in a group feel like they are one and have an excited conversation topic.
4. Deindividuation: Currently, we see more people on the screen, making us forget that they are human beings with the same feelings. When we do not see the face, we do not really know the identity, it is easier to express violent or hateful opinions than to speak in the face.
In short, it is the result of a judgment instinct to survive, mixed with a need for acceptance in social groups.
