Why does the Buddha call the horoscope, the sentry, the superstition, "the devil"?
The Buddha called them "the Beast," because the word "the Beast" in the way of "transverse" or "transverse" does not refer to the four-footed beast, but to the subjects that block the way to heaven and Nirvana, and does not save from suffering.
The main reasons as shown in the Tripitaka (for example, in the Ordinary Formula can be summarized as follows:
1. Blocking Nirvana
* Low factional knowledge: These subjects pull the mind down.
* Barrier Prosperity: Make the Mind Obsessed with Greed, Fear, and Craving
* Not out of distress: does not save passion or destroy the root of suffering.

2. Destroy the karma principle (Gummuskta)
* Rely on something else: Make people turn to rely on fate, stars, or external sacred things.
* Neglect Action: Obscure Belief in Karma and Its Fruits (Do Good, Do Bad)
* Lack of development: Instead of correcting at one's own actions, go back to correcting at exorcisms or fetish worship.

3. Is a crook for primitives
* Monastic prohibition: The Buddha strictly forbade monks and nuns to study or make a living with these subjects.
* Deceiving the People: Using horoscopes or superstitions to raise money constitutes undisciplined conduct and destroys the people's devotion.

So these subjects are classified as "transverse science," which makes humans waste time and miss opportunities to develop their minds to reach true happiness in the way of Buddhism.

จากประสบการณ์ส่วนตัว การเข้าใจว่าทำไมพระพุทธองค์ถึงตรัสเรียกศาสตร์ดูดวงและไสยศาสตร์ว่า "เดรัจฉานวิชา" ช่วยให้ผมมองเห็นภาพรวมของการพัฒนาจิตใจตามแนวทางพระพุทธศาสนาได้ชัดเจนขึ้น ความหมายของคำว่า "เดรัจฉาน" ในทางธรรม หมายถึงสิ่งที่เป็นสิ่งกั้นขวางทางจิตใจไม่ให้บรรลุมรรคผลและนิพพาน ไม่ใช่หมายถึงสัตว์เท่านั้น ซึ่งถือเป็นการเตือนสติอย่างลึกซึ้ง จากที่ศึกษาพระไตรปิฎก ทำให้ผมเข้าใจถึงผลเสียของการยึดติดกับวิชาการดูดวงและไสยศาสตร์ เช่น การที่จิตใจหมกมุ่นอยู่กับความกลัว ความโลภ หรือความอยากโดยไม่ได้มุ่งเน้นการละกิเลสและความไม่รู้ (อวิชชา) ตรรกะเรื่องกรรมและผลของกรรมถูกบดบังเพราะผู้คนเริ่มหันไปพึ่งโชคชะตา หรือสิ่งศักดิ์สิทธิ์ภายนอกแทนที่จะสร้างความดีและทำความเพียรในทางของตนเอง ในประสบการณ์จริง การที่พระสงฆ์ที่ปฏิบัติธรรมและหมั่นเจริญสติ มีความเข้าใจในหลักกรรมอย่างถูกต้อง จะเห็นได้ว่า การละเลิกความเชื่อใน "เดรัจฉานวิชา" มีส่วนช่วยทำให้เกิดความสงบทางจิตใจ และนำไปสู่ความสุขที่แท้จริงตามแนวทางพระพุทธศาสนา จึงกล่าวได้ว่าวิชาเหล่านี้ไม่เพียงแต่ขวางกั้นหนทางแห่งธรรมเท่านั้น แต่ยังทำลายหลักกรรม และเป็นมิจฉาอาชีวะสำหรับบรรพชิต เพราะฉะนั้น การตระหนักถึงข้อจำกัดของศาสตร์เหล่านี้จะช่วยให้เราหลีกเลี่ยงความหลงผิด และมีโอกาสพัฒนาจิตใจอย่างแท้จริงในเส้นทางของพระพุทธองค์
