The Wasted Potential
Today, there is melting ice on the shelf, condensation gathering along the outside of the glass.
A vaporization cycle quietly unfolding inside.
Molecules vibrate hard enough, trying to become their next stage.
But one molecule refuses to change.
In this crowded space, it does not want to leave— wishing instead to be fire, to be gas, anything but this liquid form.
It does not know that vapor is the change it has wanted so desperately.
Please save this hero of liquid form.
I am not wasted potential.
I was only gathering enough heat so that I could rise.
