Are you just delaying the life that you actually want?
Many people find themselves stuck in situations longer than they should because of the sunk cost fallacy, which is the tendency to continue investing time, energy, or money into something simply because of the prior investment. I've personally noticed that this mindset often delays pursuing a more fulfilling life path. For example, I once held onto a career that didn’t bring me joy because I had already spent years in it. The thought of leaving felt like wasting all those years, even though staying was making me unhappy. Understanding that "you don't owe your past the rest of your future" was liberating. It's important to regularly assess whether your current commitments align with your true goals and happiness. Ask yourself if you’re staying somewhere out of obligation to your past decisions or because it genuinely serves your present and future well-being. In practicing this awareness, I found that it’s okay to let go and redirect my focus. This mindset shift allowed me to take deliberate steps toward crafting a life I genuinely wanted, rather than one defined by past choices. If you ever feel like you’re delaying your life, remember, it's never too late to start anew. Your future self will thank you for moving on from what no longer serves you.
