Howls moving castle dessert themed bar. To me it wasn’t to the theme it was like they threw things together from whatever they had that was studio Ghibli. All the merch was overpriced. But it was nice to do something different.

... Read moreVisiting a themed café, especially one inspired by beloved Studio Ghibli films like Howl’s Moving Castle, can be a thrilling experience for fans. While the Howl’s Moving Castle dessert bar attempts to capture the magic of the film, it seems the execution leaned more on a mix-and-match approach rather than a cohesive theme. This can happen when venues rely heavily on a broad range of Ghibli icons and merchandise without integrating a consistent atmosphere. From personal experience, many themed cafés balance decor, menu, and goods to immerse guests in the story world. Here, the feeling was more like a collection of Studio Ghibli items rather than a fully themed experience dedicated to Howl’s Moving Castle’s enchanting setting and characters. This type of approach might still appeal to casual fans who appreciate any connection to the studio’s art and films. Regarding merchandise, it's common for items at themed locations to be priced at a premium. This reflects limited edition stock or licensing costs but can be a downside for out-of-town visitors or fans on a budget. Planning ahead by checking for similar merch online or at official stores may provide better value. Despite these drawbacks, stepping away from mainstream café concepts to explore niche, pop culture-inspired spots can be rewarding. For fans craving a break from typical outings or looking to add an eclectic twist to their day, such dessert bars offer a novel experience. It’s also a chance to connect with other enthusiasts in a relaxed, informal setting. Personally, visiting the Howl’s Moving Castle dessert bar felt like tasting a slice of the whimsical world brought to life, even if imperfect. The star rating of 2 out of 5 reflects the mixed feelings: appreciating the novelty but noting missed opportunities to deepen thematic immersion and better balance pricing with quality. For dedicated Ghibli lovers who want a quick, unique diversion, it’s worth a visit with realistic expectations.
