this looks like people pleasing, shrinking, over explaining yourself, saying yes when your body is screaming no, laughing off things that actually hurt you, making yourself smaller so someone else can feel bigger, being the “strong” friend who never gets to fall apart, serving from a place of fear instead of love, keeping yourself busy so the real stuff never gets loud enough to deal with, editing yourself, swallowing your needs so nobody sees you as too much, SHAPE SHIFTINGGG in every room so everyone’s comfortable except you.

seeking validation and trying to fill a void only Jesus can fillll! I know alll of these a little toooo well, trust.

And guess what?? ur body keeps score!!!!!!!!!! this all leads to inflammation, gut issues, autoimmune diseases, chronic illnesses, etc.

From my own experience, the struggle to always say “yes” when my body was screaming no eventually led to persistent inflammation and gut problems. It took me a long time to realize that suppressing emotions and needs doesn’t just affect mental health; it literally manifests as physical illness. The body indeed keeps score. Chronic stress from hiding your true self, laughing off pain, or over-explaining can trigger autoimmune responses and make gut health worse. What helped me most was learning to stop performing: no more shape-shifting or minimizing who I am. This radical authenticity became the most anti-inflammatory act I could do. I began prioritizing self-care that aligns with my true feelings—not just reacting out of fear or the need for validation. This shift fosters healing from inside out, promoting a healthier immune system, reduced gut irritation, and a profound sense of peace. If your body feels like it’s constantly inflamed or your gut health is struggling, consider how much you’re suppressing your real emotions and needs. Embracing vulnerability and seeking healing beyond just physical treatments can be life-changing. Authenticity isn’t just a feel-good idea—it’s a powerful step toward reclaiming your health and wholeness.
