Missing my hair

I got my hair colored for the first time last year for my birthday. It wasn’t exactly the best experience nor was it what I truly wanted but I loved the way it faded out. Life happened and I haven’t been able to go back to get it retouched but more importantly stress and health issues happened. My hair has thinned out so much. I’ve always taken great pride over my hair. Scrolling through my pictures today made my heart sink because it’s thinned out more than I thought. In just 6 months I have lost so much hair. I’ve stopped using most of my hair products and just stick to 1 shampoo and conditioner. Leave in conditioner, argon oil and biosilk oil. I’ve applied no heat to it for a month. I’ve tried to do scalp oiling but my work schedule is a bit hectic it’s hard to build any routine. Fingers crossed by the end of the year I can at least see some progress. #lemon8diarychallenge #hairloss #embracevulnerability #hairlossjourney

... Read moreThat moment you catch your reflection and realize your hair isn't quite as full as it used to be – it's truly heartbreaking. For me, it started subtly, a bit more hair in the shower drain, then on my brush. But it was seeing old photos and comparing them to my current reflection that really hit home. It's not just about vanity; our hair is often linked to our identity and confidence. If you're a woman with dark hair, perhaps even with highlights like mine once had, and you're noticing thinning, you're definitely not alone in feeling this way. The initial shock can quickly turn into anxiety and a desperate search for answers. What are some of the early signs that I, and many others, have noticed? It's often not a sudden bald patch, but a gradual change. You might see your scalp more easily, especially when your hair is wet or under bright lights. Your ponytail might feel thinner, or your hair might not hold a style as well. Finding strands everywhere – on clothes, furniture, and especially in the shower – becomes a daily occurrence. It's a constant reminder, and it can really weigh on you emotionally. After that initial realization, the natural next step is to research what can be done. I've spent countless hours online, and one name that frequently pops up in discussions about hair loss is 'Minoxidil' (sometimes you might see it misspelled as 'monaxadil'). It’s commonly known by brand names like Rogaine, and it's a topical treatment often used for androgenetic alopecia, or pattern baldness, in both men and women. From what I’ve learned, it works by widening blood vessels, which helps deliver more oxygen, blood, and nutrients to the hair follicles, potentially stimulating hair growth and slowing down hair loss. It's important to remember that Minoxidil isn't a quick fix. Many people report needing to use it consistently for several months before seeing noticeable results, and if you stop using it, the new hair growth often reverses. Plus, like any medication, it can have side effects, such as scalp irritation, dryness, or unwanted facial hair growth for some. This is why, while it's a common option people explore, it's always best to have a conversation with a dermatologist or doctor before starting any new treatment like Minoxidil. They can help determine the root cause of your hair loss and advise if it's the right solution for you, or if other approaches might be more beneficial. Beyond topical treatments, I've also been looking into more holistic approaches and what else might support hair health from the inside out. Things like ensuring a balanced diet rich in vitamins and minerals (especially iron, zinc, and B vitamins) are crucial. Some people swear by supplements like biotin, though scientific evidence can be mixed. Managing stress, which was a huge factor for me, is equally critical. Practices like mindfulness, gentle exercise, or even just setting aside time for relaxation can make a difference not just for your hair, but your overall well-being. I've also heard a lot about specific natural ingredients. Rosemary oil, for instance, has gained popularity as a natural alternative or complement to Minoxidil, with studies suggesting it might be just as effective for some in stimulating growth. Applying it diluted with a carrier oil (like jojoba or argan) and massaging it into the scalp regularly is a popular method. Scalp massages in general, regardless of what oil you use, can help improve blood circulation to the follicles. Being gentle with your hair – avoiding tight hairstyles, harsh chemicals, and excessive heat (which I'm trying my best to do!) – is also foundational. It's a long journey, but exploring different avenues and finding what works best for your unique situation is key. We're in this together!

This image illustrates that combining omega supplements with healthy fats like cashews and almonds, and splitting doses between morning and evening, leads to full omega absorption for better hair, skin, and nail health.
This image explains why omegas are delicate and lists various nuts like almonds, cashews, and walnuts, detailing how their nutrients (e.g., vitamin E, copper, polyphenols) boost omega absorption and provide benefits for skin, hair, and nails.
This image highlights seeds (sunflower, sesame, pumpkin, flax & chia) and whole-food fats (avocado, olive oil, coconut, dark chocolate) that protect omegas and enhance their absorption, contributing to skin health and overall glow.
