What’s your love language?🫶

... Read moreHey everyone! You know how some people express love through gifts, words, or quality time? For me, it's always been through food. Seriously, cooking for others is my love language. There’s just something so incredibly fulfilling about spending time in the kitchen, planning a meal, and then seeing the joy on someone's face when they take that first bite. I've always been drawn to the idea of love languages, and while the traditional five (Words of Affirmation, Acts of Service, Receiving Gifts, Quality Time, Physical Touch) are super helpful, I feel like many of us have unique ways of expressing affection that might not fit perfectly into one box. For me, cooking definitely feels like a mix of Acts of Service and Quality Time, but it's more than that – it's an experience. Think about it: when I cook for someone, it’s not just about putting food on a plate. It’s about remembering their favorite dishes, trying new recipes just to surprise them, or making comfort food when they’re feeling down. It's about nurturing, providing, and creating a shared moment around the dinner table. It’s a tangible way to say, "I care about you, and I want you to feel good." If you're wondering what your love language might be, especially if you find yourself gravitating towards the kitchen, here are some thoughts: Do you feel most loved when someone makes you a meal or brings you food? This could be a sign that Receiving Gifts or Acts of Service through food resonates with you. Do you get immense satisfaction from preparing elaborate meals for friends and family? If so, like me, cooking for others is your love language might hit home. It’s about the effort, the thought, and the desire to nourish. Does sharing a meal with loved ones feel like the ultimate bonding experience? This leans into *Quality Time*, but with a delicious, homemade twist! It’s not always about grand gestures or Michelin-star dishes. Sometimes, it’s just a simple breakfast in bed, a packed lunch for a busy day, or a batch of cookies baked just because. These little acts of love, infused with homemade goodness, speak volumes. I encourage you all to reflect on how you primarily show love and how you prefer to receive it. Maybe take an online quiz (there are tons available if you search for "discover your love language quiz" or "love language test") to get a general idea, but then think beyond the standard categories. Does your heart swell when you see someone enjoying something you’ve cooked? Do you spend hours poring over recipes, imagining who you'll make them for? If so, embrace it! Your kitchen might just be your most expressive canvas for love.
