Date your spouse
I’m not talking about physical benefits (even though chicken wings are beneficial protein), but I’m talking about relational benefits.
About once a month, my husband and I date in our living room. We make a “reservation” at our couch and order wings (from Rotolo’s in Thibodaux). After we tuck in our daughter at night, we boost the immunity of our relationship over traditional barbecue or chipotle wings.
Some of the relational health benefits of “wing night/ nightly reconnection includes nuances of important intimacy, relational recharge, medicinal affection, and if needed, holistic healing (forgiveness, improvements, compromises).
The benefits ultimately convene and construct a strong Christ-centered evening/ days. Each conversation is spoken in the language of love: spiritual needs, adaptive needs, and physical needs.
On our “date”, we commune intimately about anything and everything over ranch or blue cheese dips. We “Seek ye first the Kingdom of Heaven,” then seek each other’s souls and search their beauty. By seeking God first over wings (in your marriage), strong immunity will be “added unto” your relationship.
If you and your spouse don’t at least allot a few “nightly reservations” at your couch, cold companionship will ensue. Communication will only consist of your children - everything else besides the “heart health” of yourselves - your marriage. Your relationship will become cold and numb like leftover wings.
So, make it a priority to have “wing nights”. Make your spouse a priority and make a “reservation” at your couch. Sit together nightly (if possible) and gain ultimate immunity against hypothermia in your relationship.
