🤍Some Things Need Repairing, Not Replacing🤍
Isaiah 58:12 ~
“And they that shall be of thee shall build the old waste places: thou shalt raise up the foundations of many generations; and thou shalt be called, The repairer of the breach…”
There’s something about an old farm fence.
Eventually, something is going to lean.
A board will loosen…
A post will shift…
A nail will work its way out…
A storm will come through and leave something looking a little worse than it did before…
But you know what farmers don’t usually do?
Tear down the entire fence because one board came loose.
They grab the tools…
They straighten the post…
They replace what truly can’t be saved…
And they mend what can…
Whew… Anybody need that word on this Monday morning?
Because we live in a world that is really good at telling us to throw things away.
If it gets difficult… leave it.
If somebody disappoints you… cut them off.
If you mess up… quit.
If your dream doesn’t happen quickly… find another one.
If your prayer life gets dry… assume something is wrong.
But sometimes God isn’t telling you to replace it.
He’s telling you to repair it.
Maybe there’s a relationship that doesn’t need another argument… it needs an honest conversation.
Maybe your prayer life doesn’t need some elaborate new routine… it needs you to sit back down with Jesus.
Maybe the dream you almost abandoned isn’t dead at all… Maybe it just needs some attention.
Maybe somewhere along the way you stopped tending something God once told you to steward.
And maybe… just maybe… the thing you’ve been calling broken beyond repair is something God still sees purpose in.
Now hear me… not everything should be restored to what it once was. Wisdom matters. Boundaries matter. There are things God absolutely calls us to leave behind.
But we shouldn’t confuse difficulty with God saying done.
There’s a difference.
Isaiah 58:12 gives us this beautiful name…
“The repairer of the breach.”
A breach is a broken place. A gap. Somewhere the wall has been damaged.
And God says there are people who will be known because they repair what has been broken.
Ohhhhh, I LOVE THAT! 🙌🏼
Maybe that’s part of your assignment…
Not to pretend the damage never happened…
Not to paint over rotten wood…
Not to keep everything exactly the way it was…
But to ask God…
“Lord, show me what is worth mending.”
Because some things don’t need a funeral.
They need a hammer…
They need prayer…
They need forgiveness…
They need attention…
They need humility…
They need another try…
And they need somebody willing to believe that broken doesn’t always mean finished! 🙌🏼
Before you tear the whole fence down because you found a broken board…
ask God whether He wants you to walk away… or pick up your tools.
Some things need replacing.
But some things?
They just need mending.
Sadly, I’ve needed mending in the past… I become to know HIS MENDING AS HIS GRACE! 🙌🏼
THANK YOU JESUS! 🙌🏼
Jesus, give me wisdom to know the difference between what You are asking me to release and what You are asking me to repair. Show me the places I have neglected, the things I have given up on too quickly, and the breaches You are calling me to help mend. Give me humility where I need to apologize, courage where I need to try again, and discernment where I need to let go. Make me faithful with what You have entrusted to me. In Jesus’ name, Amen! 🤍

Similarly, in times when my prayer life felt dry, I didn’t feel the need to overhaul my entire spiritual routine but simply to return to authentic moments of quiet reflection and connection. This return to basics felt like straightening a crooked post rather than rebuilding the entire fence. The insight from Isaiah 58:12—that God calls us to be "repairers of the breach"—resonates deeply, reminding me that God values the effort to restore and nurture what may appear broken. This approach requires humility and courage, qualities that sometimes feel hard to muster. Yet, I’ve learned that asking God for wisdom to discern when to hold on and when to let go has been crucial. Not every difficulty signals an endpoint; sometimes it’s a call to tend carefully to what matters.
