What an odd thing to say.
Living with a physical challenge from such a young age has taught me a lot about resilience and the way people perceive differences. Often, strangers' comments, no matter how well-intentioned or awkward, can feel dismissive or hurtful. For example, being told "at least you can get a discount at the nail salon" feels odd and irrelevant because my condition doesn't define who I am or what I can achieve. Instead of letting such remarks discourage me, I focus on adaptability and self-confidence. I've learned to find unique ways to perform daily tasks and embrace my individuality. This experience has made me more aware of how important community understanding and support are for people facing visible or invisible challenges. Listening to others' stories and focusing on emotional development helps break down misunderstandings and supports resilience-centered approaches for well-being. Investigating multiple viewpoints encourages empathy and growth, which are essential when dealing with challenges that initially seem difficult. Sharing these perspectives can inspire others to appreciate diversity and find strength in differences. If I could offer advice, it would be to look beyond the surface and recognize the person’s spirit and determination. Odd or offhand remarks don't define us; how we respond and thrive despite them does.
