Missing student found dead

Investigators in Barcelona say they’ve determined what likely happened to University of Alabama student James “Jimmy” Gracey, 20, who was found dead in Spain.

Police reviewed surveillance footage showing Gracey falling into the sea near Somorrostro Beach and Port Olímpic. Authorities say the video indicates he was walking alone before the incident, pointing to a tragic accident.

Officials believe Gracey drowned, though his body showed bruising consistent with hitting rocks over time. A full forensic examination is underway to rule out any prior injuries.

Gracey had been in Barcelona visiting friends for spring break and was last seen around 3 a.m. at a nightclub.
